Skamania Lodge
Growing up in Tacoma, Washington some of my fondest memories are spending a week at Paradise Lodge on Mt. Ranier hiking with my Mom. I guess that is why I have a love for wilderness lodges. You can see why one of my favorite film shoots over the past decade has been returning to Skamania lodge in the Columbia River Gorge.

We have visited during every season, it is a magical place in the snow. The lobby is spectacular with the 85 foot tall fireplace as a centerpiece. The pools, saunas and onsite restaurants make it very easy to spend a few days without leaving the property. But of course, you are in the Gorge surrounded by hiking trails, waterfalls, cute towns, wineries and tasting rooms, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

There are a number of easy hiking trails on the property, an 18 hole golf course, a zip line course, an aerial adventure park and recently they added axe throwing. If that is not enough there are even luxury tree houses.
