The Barberry
We find ourselves taking the short drive out of Portland to McMinnville a few times each month for a bite to eat and of course to try out a few new tasting rooms in Oregons wine country. A recent visit found us at the Barberry Restaurant for an early dinner.

The restaurant focuses on locally sourced products from nearby farms. Yes, they grow more than just grapes in the Willamette valley!

The restaurant has a small garden on the back patio. The fava bean tops that garnished the salmon dish came from there! The salmon was cooked perfectly, medium rare, edging closer to the rare side which is how Terri-Lynn loves her salmon.

I love duck and I will almost certainly make that my choice whenever possible. I really enjoyed this interpretation. The cold smoked aspect was not too overpowering allowing the freshness of the meat to shine through.

The restaurant is a rather large building with multiple rooms and patio space. Much of the interior has been made from reclaimed wood. Below is the film we produced for Sip & Stay where we went into the kitchen, so you can get a few recipe ideas from the three dishes mentioned above.
