La Bastide Bed & Breakfast
If you are planning on a full day, or days of wine tasting through the Willamette Valley I recommend having a nice place to stay in the area. I would also recommend La Bastide Bed & Breakfast. The Inn is located in Dundee and is surrounded by some of the best wineries in Oregon.
The Inn was built in 2014 by Mark Moisan and his wife Elizabeth. As soon as we stepped in the door I knew we had made the right decision. Mark is very hospitable with a quirky sense of humor so I knew we would have a great time.
I love the high 10 foot ceilings of the Inn and the 8 foot doors. It has a very open feel. The rooms are named after wine regions in France and ours looked out over the neighboring winery and was very bright and sunny.
And speaking of wineries, guests of the Inn may enjoy a free wine tasting at the neighboring winery, Hyland Estates.
La Bastide really puts a big emphasis on breakfast! Important before a day of wine tasting. Mark says that if you were to stay there for a week you would have something different every morning. We stayed three nights and each morning we were greeted with deliciousness!
It is a two course breakfast. The first morning was coconut broiled grapefruit with coconut cream followed by fig and brie stuffed French toast with rosemary spiced walnuts.
The next morning was cinnamon roasted pears with yogurt and house granola for the first course and then a savory egg dish of egg and cheese custard with mushrooms, bacon, toast and a side salad.
On our final morning we enjoyed a citrus plate with cranberries, whipped chevre and walnuts followed by a French omelette with bay shrimp snow peas and house toast.
I looked in one of the other rooms. Each room has its own en suite bathroom, which is not always the case with a B&B. You can take a look at all their rooms on their website here.
They offer a number of packages and also will take you on a wine tour for the day with lunch, or maybe even drive you to dinner. Mark is awesome! You can check out the video we made while we stayed there below.
